I’m writing this for travelers who plan everything carefully like myself, reading every review from different websites in order to plan and organize the best experience possible. My stay at Invisible Lodge (Rovaniemi) was distressing from start to finish. * Early check-in request & “full extra night” upsell: A few days before arrival I asked about early check-in (their check-in is 16:00). I was told the hotel was “full” and the only way to arrive earlier was to pay an entire extra night. Instead, we booked a city hotel to host us from 09:00 to 16:00. Later that same day, I was informed the on-site restaurant would be closed due to low occupancy. The contradiction felt dishonest and greedy. * Check-in pressure & €300 deposit push: I completed online check-in (received the confirmation), went to sleep, and woke up to multiple emails insisting it wasn’t complete unless I paid €300 to “finalize.” At the property, front-desk check-in took under 5 minutes—the online pressure looked like a tactic to lock the deposit, not to help guests. * Restaurant closed at the last minute (remote location): The online check-in page showed the restaurant open, yet about one hour before arrival I was told dinner and breakfast were canceled due to low occupancy. In the middle of the forest with no nearby restaurants, my cancellation request was refused. * Food & basics far from 5-star: “Breakfast” was pre-placed in the room fridge and was stale; a replacement bread/cheese arrived rock-hard. Amenities were minimal—only shampoo/soap/conditioner. If the goal is an “eco” approach, then state what’s available on request; even 3-star hotels in Rovaniemi provide basic amenities. The sink was clogged, there was no bath mat, and the bathroom/sauna flooded, with a squeegee left so guests clean it themselves. Towels were insufficient. * Construction & no management support: There is ongoing construction; the place doesn’t feel ready. Management is unreachable after 16:00 (which is exactly the official check-in time). No compensation, no flexibility, no attempt to fix anything despite repeated pleas. * Intimidation, not hospitality: After I said I’d post an honest review, I was told security would be waiting. I felt intimidated when a staff member escorting us appeared to carry a large knife on their belt. I was so distressed I spent two days of my vacation on calming medication. The moment I left and checked into another hotel in town, I immediately felt better. * Documentation: I’m editing a full video for my YouTube channel. I’ve saved emails, screenshots, timestamps, and photos—I documented everything for legal protection after being told security would be waiting. Aurora reality: You won’t reliably watch the northern lights from the jacuzzi; you generally need a chasing tour. Staying in central Rovaniemi offers better hotels, service, and dining. Bottom line: Avoid. Last-minute restaurant closure, construction, minimal amenities, and an intimidating, policy-first attitude turned a dream trip into two days of anxiety. This is not a five-star experience.

C’était fabuleux! L’emplacement, le repas, le service tous simplement incroyable! Nous n’avons malheureusement pas pu voir les aurores boréales mais l’endroit nous permet de ne même pas être déçu! Petit bémol, le jacuzzi manque de bulle et le sauna met un bon moment à être à bonne température ! Mais c’est vraiment être pointilleux ! De plus je suis arrivé dans cet établissement pour une nuit avec mon compagnon et je suis reparti avec mon fiancé ! 🥰🥰 ça n’aurait pas pu être plus génial
