So disappointed about this place after all the good reviews I read :( Friendly and kind hosts, and a good view, are basically the only good points of this place. But you can get an even better view of the castle from the public path in front of the property for free 24/7! The room was terrible and really spoiled the stay: heavy damp and mold smell, and dirty carpets... I had difficulty to breathe during the first two nights. The towels were rough and smelly. We were offered the sauna and jacuzzi on site which was great, to be charged €45 at check-out. Call me naive but I would have appreciated the heads-up when offering as most places in Finland have the sauna included in the price of the room. The WiFi never worked. Honestly, I am sorry to say that I recommend a cheaper option a bit further or around the harbour where the basics will be met. I paid €850 for 4 nights at Lossiranta and did not get what I was expecting for that price.

Stayed in the Tavis guesthouse, lakeside and just a 10-minute stroll from the castle. A good host makes all the difference, and Juha ticked off all the boxes, taking great care of us. Excellent English and not as reserved as Finns often are. Our room (more like a bachelor apartment) had a large balcony overlooking the whole scene as well as a/c, which can be welcome even in Finland these days. The optional outdoor tables for breakfast were a perfect picture of Finns' closeness to their pristine nature.
